Our club is located at 148 High Street Broadford ( between Mt Piper Kindergarten and the Lions Park)

HISTORY OF THE CLUB

The Broadford Bowling Club was founded in 1934 with the original Green Iocated opposite the Post Office.  Also situated in that area was a croquet green with both clubs sharing the club rooms.

In 1962 meetings were held and plans were presented to erect a new green, and in 1964 this was officially opened and play commenced on the green at our present club site.

Owing to drought and water restrictions, the club investigated replacing the grass top with a synthetic surface.  The synthetic surface was completed and was opened for official play in November 2003.

This also enabled our members to participate in bowls regardless of the time of the year or climate restrictions.

Due to vandalism a complete new top had to be replaced in 2007 at considerable expense.

As far as we can ascertain the Ladies section of the club was formed in 1958.

The original clubroom was purchased from Puckapunyal with extensions of kitchen, toilets and bar added with many memorable functions and times held.

In 1988 a committee was formed to investigate the building of new club rooms, which we are now occupying.  These clubrooms were officially opened in November 1990.

Over the years the club has had great succerss in both men’s and ladies Pennant and Association events.

The club is affiliated with Central Bowls Division which includes the following Clubs:

Wallan Bowling Club; Kilmore Bowling Club; Seymour Bowling Club ; Seymour VRI Bowling Club; Yea Bowling Club and the Alexandra Bowling Club.

We are always on the lookout for new members to our club, so if you are interested in becoming a member, do not hesitate to contact one of our officials.

Visiting bowlers are also welcome on our social days.
